So I want to buy something from the market but before actually buying it, I want to know what other consumers or users have to say about the product. That’s when we search for user reviews and ratings on the web. But are these user reviews and rating websites, like mouthshut, asklaila and the newly launched, feedbackerteam, etc. genuinely helpful? Let’s analyze a little bit.
Since we have internet now, 70% of the educated crowd do their research about products and services on the internet before they actually buy them, whether online or offline. Suppose you want to purchase a newly launched Nokia mobile handset for some Rs.20k. You surely would like to know if the product is good before buying it right away and spending the 20k bucks, right? So, whom shall you ask? Of course you cannot ask the shopkeeper because he will surely tell you lots of good and compelling reasons to buy it.
So, you look around and when no one of your friends are there to give you proper suggestion, you go to the internet and search for reviews of that product or service, right?
Now, there are two types of reviews – one is professional review and the other one is consumer review. Professional review will tell you everything about the product yet it cannot tell you how it worked for real consumers after, say for instance, using it for a particular amount of time. Both the reviews type have got its own ups and down but both are sure very helpful in guessing the quality of a product or service.
These reviews do help us make an informed decision but you should know where to look for the genuine ones and how to interpret them well.
